Birthday card for my niece

Hello everyone!

Thursday was not only my Dad's birthday, but also my little niece's first birthday. I can't believe she's 1 already! She's in such a hurry - walking at 9 months, throwing things, climbing onto things in order to reach, eating hardy meals, etc. We've all celebrated her (and her daddy) today, and I told Mommy (my sis) that I expected my niece to have her own cake. Well, here's one at least, lol!
On Neenah cardstock I printed The Paper Shelter You're my cuppycake, colored it with Copics and die cut with a Nellie Snellen Straight dotted oval die. I wanted the hair color close to reality (yes, she's hot tempered, ha!), but man was it difficult matching girly colors with that color hair!

Copics used:
Skin: E04, E11, E00, E000, R20
Lips: RV14, RV13, R20
Hair: YR21, YR23, YR27, E37
Skirt + buttercream: R85, R83, R81, RV11
Blouse: BV17, BV13, BV02, BV00
Chocolate cake: E49, E59, E25, E23
Vanilla cake: E25, E34, E31
Buttercream: BV02, BV01, BV00, BV000
Wrappers: B97, B95, B93, B91 / R89, R85, R83, R81
Grounding: W3, W1, W0
Sugar sprinkles: C7, C5, C1

For the background I stamped the My favorite things Birthday backround with WOW! embossing ink, covered with WOW! White pearl embossing powder and heat set it. Then I blended Festive berries, Spun sugar, Shaded lilac and Chipped sapphire Oxide inks over it for a little emboss resist.

I then readied "a couple" of bits and pieces: The MFT Happy birthday circle die I cut and covered in WOW! White Twinkle embossing powder. A sentiment from the MFT Celebrate with cake set White pearl embossed and cut on a Simple and Basic Pierced tag die, and also cut 3 Marianne Designs Heart balloons and blended them all over with the same Oxide inks. I stamped the large 1-stamp from The Cat's Pajamas Your number is up set with Spun sugar Oxide ink and for an ombre look came in with a little Festive berries Oxide ink. And finally, a bow from a satin ribbon from my stash. I think it's safe to say I went all in! Phew!

The main image as well as all the "bits" (except for the bow) were popped up. I then coated the balloons, skirt and buttercream with Spectrum noir clear sparkle pen. The little sugar sprinkles I gave a dot of glossy accents, and the balloons were coated with Nuvo glaze.

It's ironic that I wanted a fairly simple card showing the background stamp, and end up with a fully loaded card that barely shows the background, haha! Story of my card-making life!

Hope you like it!
