Handmade Paper Hugs

  I made another couple of sets of summer cards for the Danish operation write home, this time using Newton's Nook Woodland picnic critters along with sentiments from Gitte's eget design (sending you sunshine) and Three Scoops (wishing you a wonderful summer).  Background stamps are from Simon says stamp and the plaid paper was made with Newton's Gingham stencil. 

This cute set deserves a moment in the spotlight, don't you think?  I don't know if this technique has a name, but I'm calling it selective spotlight. Quick coloring and easy cards that packs a punch. I used a palm tree and sand dune (from Three Scoops) to create a no-coloring background and then spotlighted the cute Rosie and Bernie in Hawaii from Stamping Bella.  Sentiment from Hobbyboden. 

Here are 2 more sets of cards for the Danish Operation write home where I've used my so-called selective spotlight technique.  All stamps used are from Three Scoops, except for the "sender dig solskin" (sending you sunshine) sentiment, which is from Gitte's eget design. Stencil from My favorite things.  

Today I'm sharing 2 sets of summer cards I made for the Danish operation write home. One was shared a while back on my Facebook paige, the other is "new". Once again I've used the awesome set of summer stamps from Three Scoops.  For all of the cards I used the Waffle Flower stencil For one set I used a circle frame, for the other a mini palm tree.   Hello everyone! Before we start you may wanna go grab a cuppa. This is a longer post than usual 😉 I've always steared clear from mixed media thinking it was way too many impressions in one piece of paper, lol 😅 However lately I've found that there are ways to use layers and glitter in mixed media, so I warmed up to it. Which led to the obvious question - what exactly is mixed media? Turns out it really just describes the use of more than one medium. So in a way pretty much every card I've ever made is mixed media. Although most of us probably wouldn't put them in that category. I started watching videos of mixed media projects on YouTube. Lots of videos. There are soooo many possibilities and adding color to paper on a gel plate is only one of them. Originally they are intended for acrylic paint, but also work with regular and oxide Distress inks and alcohol ink, which I'm looking forward to try.   Hello everyone! Do you sometimes overthink your projects? I know I do 🙈 I'm sure if I was making cards instead of thinking I'd create 3 times more cards in the same amount of time. Oh well... Today I'm sharing another set of cards for the Danish operation write home - OSH. I used Avery Alle Fly By stamps and coordinating dies. It's an older set but it was given to me a while ago and I thought it was perfect for OSH cards. Actually I stamped and colored these cute images more than a year ago. Can you believe it. With the pandemic I find I can color but actually making cards, not so much 😩 I have been die cutting them while my daughter did her online homeschooling. It took FOREVER! Can you tell I'm not used to coordinating dies 😂 The backgrounds were easily done with a bit of ink smooshing using Tumbled glass distress re-inker and a little bit of Salty ocean.   Hello Everyone! Hope your year is off to a great start. Mine is tough, I tell ya! A new lockdown started after Christmas, they already prolonged once and home schooling is taking its toll on me and my daughter. Time for crafting is sparse and this set of cards took... A while.  So - these cards feature a nice portrait of Fifty the bear sending hugs. In case you don't know Fifty he's the very proud mascot of the Danish Operation Write Home - OSH. During our first lockdown last spring the designer from NHH Design created a series of free digital stamps featuring Fifty and I've only just now come to using them. I printed out a bunch of bears and colored him to fit the desert troops he will be "joining" soon. I did very simple coloring and almost no shading. Hey guys! I really like sketch challenges because I'm forced to think of a creative way to use my stams (or dies) that I may not have used them before. Some I like so much I create multiple cards. Like this one. And I even decided to use some of that patterned paper I had to have and haven't used. This first one even fits te current color sketch as well. Using stamps and coordinating dies from MFT Cooler with you colored with copics. In my mind the bear is sleighing down a hill in such high speed he sends the penguin in a swirl and his goggles fly off. The paper looks like the swirling snow, don't you think? I think it's from Joy! The snowman is from the same set as before. The trees are from MFT Polar pals. Sentiment is from Gittes eget design and means Wishing you a peaceful Christmas.
