AAA Birthday challenge #35 - Under the sea

Billede
Hello everyone! Today marks the beginning of the March challenge over at AAA Birthday challenge blog , and the theme this month is Under the sea. So get out your favorite sea critters - otters, turtles, whales etc. - or how about mystical creatures like mermaids. Sadly this month's challenge also marks my last project for the AAA DT, as I need to focus on me for a while. Although not in relevance to this challenge at all, I ask that you keep the people of Ukraine in your thoughts 🙏 Please consider donating This gorgeous image is a Make it Crafty digital stamp colored with Copics. More gel press - for Operation skriv hjem

Billede
Hello everyone! Here's a really quick and cute card with quite an impact. A while back I made a bunch of cards featuring Fifty, the mascot for Operation skriv hjem (Operation write home). He's a free digital image from NNH Design. Back then I first colored this in greens and earth colors. Then I thought to ask if our troops are mostly in green, desert or navy camouflage. Turns out it's primarily desert troops, so this guy never made it onto a card. But, I couldn't leave him "hanging" and this background really screamed military pattern.  I just LOVE the big word dies and now we can get them with danish words as well - YAY! This one is from Gitte's eget design and simply means HUGS. I cut the middle layer from the gel press background.  Thanks for stopping by! Stay safe and happy crafting! Tina The card is entered into the following challenges: http://inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.com/ - fur or feathers http://craftygalscornerchallenges.blogspot.com/ ...

More gel press backgrounds

Billede
Hello everyone! Did you see my last post on gel press? Well it was my first time playing with it and I made a bunch of backgrounds. And since I didn't want them to cover the intire card I cut them in half to make even more backgrounds. Then I went through my folder with colored images and found some to match. Easy peasy with the amount of images I've colored all through 2020. These cuties are from My favorite things Birthday Buds, aren't they adorable? I can just hear the birdie singing "Happy birthday to YOUUUU! For this card I chose to use the danish birthday stamps from Gitte's eget design that can be layered. I used inks from Hero Arts and Waffle Flower Except for the dark blue on the gel press paper. That's Faded jeans oxide ink.  The stencils used are from Tim Holtz and Taylored Expressions and the oxide ink comcos used on the 2 cards are  Victorian velvet, Fossilized amber, Faded jeans Cracked pistacio, Evergreen bough, Faded jeans I was going to stamp...

First thoughts on Gel Press

Billede
Hello everyone! Before we start you may wanna go grab a cuppa. This is a longer post than usual 😉 I've always steared clear from mixed media thinking it was way too many impressions in one piece of paper, lol 😅 However lately I've found that there are ways to use layers and glitter in mixed media, so I warmed up to it. Which led to the obvious question - what exactly is mixed media? Turns out it really just describes the use of more than one medium. So in a way pretty much every card I've ever made is mixed media. Although most of us probably wouldn't put them in that category. I started watching videos of mixed media projects on YouTube. Lots of videos. There are soooo many possibilities and adding color to paper on a gel plate is only one of them. Originally they are intended for acrylic paint, but also work with regular and oxide Distress inks and alcohol ink, which I'm looking forward to try. But if you want to give gel press a try I do recommend you get you...

Yes, still in rainbow mode

Billede
Happy Sunday everyone! Today I've got yet another rainbow card. Hope you'll stick around and let it brighten your day. I stamped the mermaid from Neat and Tangled Mermazing 3 times and colored them with Copics in rainbow colors:  E15, E13, E11, E00 R39, R29, R24, R14 YR09, YR04 Y17, Y08 Y06, Y11, Y000 YG06, YG03, YG01 G28, G17, G14, G00 BG49, BG23, BG07, BG05, BG45 B69, B05, B02, B00 BV08, BV04, BV02 V17, V15, V12 RV66, RV55, RV52, RV09, RV06, RV02, RV10 I chose a square cardbase and used Taylored Expressions Splash stencil and blended Tumbled glass, Mermaid lagoon and Peacock feathers Distress ink. After wiping off the stencil I placed it back on the cardbase. I then dapped my embossing ink all over the card and then covered with WOW! Calypso embossing glitter - just for a little sparkle. The sentiment is  also TE stamped with WOW! clear embossing powder over black pigment ink. As a final touch I added fairy sugar from Memory Box to the...

Epilepsy awareness day

Billede
Hello everyone! Until a few days ago I didn't even know there was an epilepsy awareness day. But when I found out that through Time Out challenge blog that March 2th is just that, I had to join. You see, my Bonita (the doggie we just lost) had stress-induced epilepsy. I hope to never see another epileptic cramp again 🙏 But did you know not all seizures are visible? Some seizures puts the patient in a sort of trance, and some go by unnoticed for years. Either way, it's scary. Purple is the color for epilepsy and the sea horse is a symbol of it, because the seizures take place in the brains Hippocampus, which in latin means sea horse. So I stamped the Hero Arts layered Sea horse using Altenew purple inks. I used the same inks to ink smoosh the background. I also stamped a few more sea horses and stenciled through Taylored Expressions Splash stencil. I didn't move the stencil. Instead I added a bit of Nuvo Moonstone glimmer paste for a little sparkle. The sentiment...

Surf's up!

Billede
Hey everyone, The male room challenge theme is Surf's up, and I thought I'd join! To fit all my elements in I chose a square card this time. The background was first ink blended with Squeezed lemonade, Twisted citron and Tumbled glass oxide inks. Then I placed the Taylored Expressions Splash stencil over it, and used the same inks on top. I printed 2 Make it crafty digital stamps on Neenah white cardstock. Thery are Surfer dad (the Surfer dad dreaming version that's included) and Palm trees. I colored them with my Copics and fuzzy cut them out. I added details with my white Gelly roll pen. I mostly used the same colors on the dream part of the image and added a tiny bit of sparkle with my Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen. I really think this vibe of this image! If you can dream it, you can do it! I popped up both images with craft foam. I don't usually do this, as I find the cards get too bulky. But I really wanted the dimensi...

Summer fun!

Billede
Hi there and welcome, Today I have this bright and joyful summer fun card to share. So, The daily marker 30 day challenge by Kathy Racoosin is over and I've commenced summer holidays with my family. But that doesn't mean there's no coloring. I often color with my daughter, and I love the special times we share! For this card I printed the Paper Shelter image Coconut on Neenah, colored it with my Copics and die cut with a My favorite things Elegant rectangle die. From pineapple patterned paper I die cut with a larger die from that same set. I backed it with a panel of pink cardstock. These flowers... Don't get me started. They are Joy! dies and my first ever rolled flowers. I thought the Sissix felt was wool. It wasn't! And they were practically impossible to roll. I almost gave up a couple of times, but in the end they came out looking alright. The leaves are MFT Fab foliage cut from white cardstock and colored with Copics. To finish off t...

Always be a mermaid

Billede
Hi there! Today we are starting our summer holiday and I wanted to make a card for my daughter. I just had to color up this new Digi Doodles Serina mermaid!    The background was created by ink blending Milled lavendar, Tumbled glass and Mermaid lagoon Distress inks over the Taylored Expressions Sweet scallop stencil. I printed the mermaid and a sentiment from Digi Doodles Mermaid sentiments. I colored the mermaid with my copics in my favorite colors, pink and teal, and fuzzycut it out.  I decided the card needed a shaker element and I used the TE Be a mermaid tail die. I die cut the tail from the background and popped up the background with 2 layers of craft foam. I placed the cut out tail in the negative space. I made sure to prep with my antistatic powder bag and added clear sequins and violet glitter before placing the background on top. I popped up the mermaid and the sentiment. The sentiment is cut with a frame from Lawn Faw...
