Good vibes for Operation skriv hjem

Billede
Happy Easter everyone! I myself have not made it to Easter cards yet this year (and I doubt I will). So a few days ago I sat down and used most of my gel press backgrounds from a few weeks ago. I paired them with lots of images that were already colored. I guess you can say I cleaned out 😆 Here's a few of them. The cards will go to Operation skriv hjem - for deployed Danish troops to send to their loved ones.  First I stamped the flower and sentiment from Pink Fresh Studio Folk Hummingbird. Then I added a diagonally cut piece of gel press panel and added the encircled ponies. They are free digital stamps from YamPuff.  Finally I added a couple of Nuvo drops and for the first time ever using these I felt they were successful. I slapped the card down onto my table a couple of times and by accident some flattened. I then did this for all of them because 1) they look more like enamel dots, which I like and 2) I don't have to worry about the humpty domes getting flat when I stack t

Alex Syberia Design March release

*reklame* Hello everyone! There's a new release available at Alex Syberia Design Etsy shop  and today I'm sharing a couple of cards to inspire you. I encourage you to check out the whole release because it is gorgeous! My first card features a couple of lowey dowey flamingos in spring colors, because I'm soooo ready for spring! To make one of the flamingos more feminine I also printed the Springtime flower image. I printed it very small and fuzzy cut it, cutting part of it off so it would fit on top of the flamingo's head. I'll be honest, it was a tricky one to cut 😉 I know, flamingos aren't normally pink but rather a more subdued coral. But "normal" went missing so I colored them pink! Copic colors used: RV25, RV13, RV11, RV10 + C9, C7 Y28, YR21, YR20, YR000 YG06, YG03, YG01 Using the Simple and Basic Slim Card dies I placed the flamingos on a panel cut from bronze glitter cardstock before adhering to the base which I'd blended with a bit of Sp

More gel press - for Operation skriv hjem

Hello everyone! Here's a really quick and cute card with quite an impact. A while back I made a bunch of cards featuring Fifty, the mascot for Operation skriv hjem (Operation write home). He's a free digital image from NNH Design. Back then I first colored this in greens and earth colors. Then I thought to ask if our troops are mostly in green, desert or navy camouflage. Turns out it's primarily desert troops, so this guy never made it onto a card. But, I couldn't leave him "hanging" and this background really screamed military pattern.  I just LOVE the big word dies and now we can get them with danish words as well - YAY! This one is from Gitte's eget design and simply means HUGS. I cut the middle layer from the gel press background.  Thanks for stopping by! Stay safe and happy crafting! Zodiac - Pisces / International color day

Billede
Hello everyone! Can you believe I only just started my "color at least 1 Zodiac design per period" and I'm already late? I'm even a Pisces myself (yes, I just had my birthday). Oh well, I think I only missed Pisces by one day, AND it's International color day today so really it's perfect for sharing today. The image is a digital stamp from Yampuff at Etsy and my only medium is Copic markers. I've only recently ventured into coloring a whole panel with my beloved Copic markers. But they say practice makes perfect, and I love how relaxing coloring is to me. I honestly wasn't sure about coloring in the ocean. I really liked it without and to be honest I may have even liked it better without. However, the mermaid, fish and bubbles just didn't make sense without the ocean.  Copics used: Skin: E15, E13, E11, E21, E00 + R22, R20 Tail: R89, R85, R83, R81, RV10 Eyes/top: BG15, BG23, BG11 Hair: E42, E43, E44, E47 Fish: C5, C3, C1 + BG11, Y00 Ocean: BG10, BG1

Hello beautiful, gorgeous girl

Billede
Hey guys! How beautiful and gorgeous is this girl? She is a digital stamp from Krista Leigh Smith over on Etsy. Yes, Krista Smith of Saturated Canary 😉 I used one of my recently made gel press backgrounds. For this one I used Victorian velvet, Festive berries and Seedless preserves oxide inks. I darkened the edges and stamped the sentiment with Seedless preserves. The sentiments are from My favorite things and I clear heat embossed the large hello. The tiny hearts are WOW! Turkish nights embossing powder made with a Memory box stencil. It's one of my absolute most favorite powders and I wanted to show you the deep burgundy-plum base color that all the gold sparkle almost hides. I love it! And this is where I'd list my Copics but I've misplaced my notes, darn it. I know the shirt is R89, R85, R83, R81 and possibly R10. But the hair... I know I wrote it down because I likes the strawberry blonde. Oh well... That's it guys, hope you like it! Thanks so much for stopping

More gel press backgrounds

Billede
Hello everyone! Did you see my last post on gel press? Well it was my first time playing with it and I made a bunch of backgrounds. And since I didn't want them to cover the intire card I cut them in half to make even more backgrounds. Then I went through my folder with colored images and found some to match. Easy peasy with the amount of images I've colored all through 2020. These cuties are from My favorite things Birthday Buds, aren't they adorable? I can just hear the birdie singing "Happy birthday to YOUUUU! For this card I chose to use the danish birthday stamps from Gitte's eget design that can be layered. I used inks from Hero Arts and Waffle Flower Except for the dark blue on the gel press paper. That's Faded jeans oxide ink.  The stencils used are from Tim Holtz and Taylored Expressions and the oxide ink comcos used on the 2 cards are  Victorian velvet, Fossilized amber, Faded jeans Cracked pistacio, Evergreen bough, Faded jeans I was going to stamp

First thoughts on Gel Press

Billede
Hello everyone! Before we start you may wanna go grab a cuppa. This is a longer post than usual 😉 I've always steared clear from mixed media thinking it was way too many impressions in one piece of paper, lol 😅 However lately I've found that there are ways to use layers and glitter in mixed media, so I warmed up to it. Which led to the obvious question - what exactly is mixed media? Turns out it really just describes the use of more than one medium. So in a way pretty much every card I've ever made is mixed media. Although most of us probably wouldn't put them in that category. I started watching videos of mixed media projects on YouTube. Lots of videos. There are soooo many possibilities and adding color to paper on a gel plate is only one of them. Originally they are intended for acrylic paint, but also work with regular and oxide Distress inks and alcohol ink, which I'm looking forward to try. But if you want to give gel press a try I do recommend you get you

AAA Birthday challenge Game #23 Patterned paper

Billede
Hello Everyone! Spring is finally here and today we're starting the March challenge over at AAA Birthday blog and our theme this month is patterned paper.  I'm sure you know I don't typically use a lot of patterned paper, so this was honestly a challenge for me. I know, I know, I could have chosen the easy path and slapped a piece of paper on a card and add a critter. That would no doubt be adorable, but I wanted to do something different. I found my inspiration with Laura Bassen. She is awesome with geometric cards! Since I'm sooo over winter I wanted warm vibes on this card. I found a paper pad (bought locally) and decided on 5 different prints and cut squares (around 1x1 inch) with my paper trimmer. I popped them up with craft foam for dimension. For extra summer vibes I stamped a pineapple using Honey Bee stamps Fineapple in colors matching the paper. I used Altenew and Hero Arts inks. I popped it up and added a bit of shimmer with my very dry Wink of stella. The st
