Alex Syberia Designs Smile and Wave

Billede
Hey everyone, I'm up on the Alex Syberia Designs blog today with a set of cute cards that can be used for either birthday or Christmas and I absolutely love that these stamps can be used for both! I'm using the Smile and Wave  stamps and dies along with the Smile die .  **Add, since I'm on the design team, but the opinions are my own** The cards were made in the same way. I lightly spritzed a bit of water on both sides of my cardstock, to prevent too much warping. I then carefully added my color burst powders, for the pink card I used Lindy's magical shaker Magnolia magenta gold. I really love the wimsical look and thought these backgrounds were perfect for these cute penguins riding their snowboards. Sigh! Just look at those "golden" spots, much more shimmery in real life. And I really love the pink and blue speks in there. These penguins are having snow much fun, pun intended.   I Copic colored the darling penguins and die cut them with the coordinating ...

Stencil Techniques - Poppystamps

Billede
Hello everyone! Today I'm up on the  Poppystamps Blog  with a series of stenciling techniques. Simple stenciling with one color of ink, also using patterned paper. Ink blending for depth. Check out the labels - so romantic, don't you think? My favorite - texture paste with glitter embossing powder. L-O-V-E!!! Texture paste with watercolor powders. These shimmery colorburst powders from Nuvo are so gorgeous! And finally partial stenciling. I love that wheelbarrow and whimsical flower branch - so cute. And the glitter paper - sturdy, very glittery, cuts easily. Oh, and the Fairy Sugar - gorgeous! There are a few more details over on the  Poppystamps Blog  including product links.  Please let me know if there's a technique you'd like me to cover in the future. Thanks for stopping by, and happy crafting.

More watercoloring?

Billede
Hi there! I'm very much out of my comfort zone when it comes to watercoloring. The other day when I made the wallpaper art card, I stamped and embossed all 3 flowers from the Altenew set with WOW! Metallic platinum embossing powder. I colored this flower to go on that same card, but I just didn't like it on there. So today I decided to put it on another card. The background is made with the old Jennifer McGuire trick of adding Distress ink to an acrylic block, spraying with water and laying it on to the cardstock. I didn't use watercolor paper for this, so I only left the block there for a few seconds. But it gave a beautiful impression. I used Squeezed lemonade, Shabby shutters and Twisted citron Distress inks. I then stamped the leaves using Twisted citron Oxide ink, and splattered diluted Distress ink in Twisted citron, Evergreen bough and Black soot.  I popped up the flower, stamped the sentiment from Simon says stamp Big birthday wishes a...

Watercolored wall paper art

Billede
Hello! Simon says stamp has recently started an IG challenge, and this month it's watercolor. I don't watercolor a lot and I've only recently purchased my first set of Arteza markers. But practice makes perfect, right?! I prepped my Bristol smooth cardstock with my powder tool, and stamped the Altenew Wallpaper art flower and leaves with WOW! embossing ink, covered with WOW! Metallic platinum embossing powder and heat set it.  I channeled my inner Kelly Latevola in  this video and colored them with my Arteza markers, covering the entire image in 3-4 colores before adding water to blend the colors. I made sure to color outside the lines to prevent all white edges. I thought this kind of coloring would be easier than applying one color at a time. It was difficult though, to let go of the control freak in me, and they didn't turn out like I wanted (they're much darker, lesson learned). I let them dry and fuzzy cut them out. For the backg...

MFT sketch #444

Billede
Hello! OK, so snow drifts can be pink, right? Right! I created this background using watercolor cardstock, Nuvo shimmer powder in Cherry bomb and my water spritzer. I added a couple of layers of the powder for more intense color and also because all the little specks got washed out. And they honestly are the reason I love this powder and why I think it's so unique. I know your supposed to dilute it all for an even layer, but I like it this way. I used the MFT Horizontal snow drifts die to cut the panel.  It's so hard to get the shimmer on photos, but it's so shiny in real life. TIP: I sandwiched a piece of parchment paper between the cardstock and die to prevent the shimmer powder from sticking to my die and potentially ruining a future project. Ask me how I know I need to do this. I stamped 3 images from MFT Polar bear pals, colored them with my copics and fuzzy cut them out. I cut the frame die from white cardstock as well and placed i...

DT announcement

Goodmorning all! Today is the day I can finally reveal that I am joining  the design team at AAA Birthday Card Challenges - YAY! I'm honored to work alongside a group of very talented ladies  and so super excited to begin this adventure. I'm still happy dancing! Thank you so much for this opportunity, Jane!  I couldn't wait to get started, so I created a card for  Game #2 - use of watercolors I used Altenew Wallpaper art stamp set and I used the coordinating  stencil set to help mask off the images. Since I was going to watercolor  I stamped with Gina K amalgam ink. I first created a wash with Distress Oxide inks Spun suger, Picked raspberry and Seedless preserves. After drying the panel with my heat tool I added shadows to the images using water a couple of watercolor markers. The "happy" is from another Altenew set - Painted poppies - and "birthday wishes" is from Simon Says Stamp Tiny words. This is a very simple card for me, but I ...

Birthday card for Sis

Billede
Today is my sisters birthday, so it had to be a special card. She loves sea otters, so I thought I'd use My favorite things Otterly love you. I also used a few images from the Mermazing set. I colored the images with my copics and fuzzy cut them out.  Copic combos are at the bottom of this post. I then cut a panel from watercolor paper to 11x21 cm ~ 4,3x8,3 inch. For the sand I used distress ink antique linen and for the ocean and sky i used Tumbled glass, Salty ocean, Marmaid Lagoon, Peacock feathers and Blueprint sketch. when dry I stamped some images from the Mermazing set using oxides Peeled paint, Twisted citron, Seedless preserves and Chipped saphire.  When it was dry I spritzed it with Sheer shimmer spritz sparkle. Sentiments are My favorite things AND Simon Says stamp Tiny words and they are white embossed on dark blue cardstock using WOW! opaque bright white embossing powder. Both images and sentiments are popped up for dimensio...
