Epilepsy awareness day

Billede
Hello everyone! Until a few days ago I didn't even know there was an epilepsy awareness day. But when I found out that through Time Out challenge blog that March 2th is just that, I had to join. You see, my Bonita (the doggie we just lost) had stress-induced epilepsy. I hope to never see another epileptic cramp again 🙏 But did you know not all seizures are visible? Some seizures puts the patient in a sort of trance, and some go by unnoticed for years. Either way, it's scary. Purple is the color for epilepsy and the sea horse is a symbol of it, because the seizures take place in the brains Hippocampus, which in latin means sea horse. So I stamped the Hero Arts layered Sea horse using Altenew purple inks. I used the same inks to ink smoosh the background. I also stamped a few more sea horses and stenciled through Taylored Expressions Splash stencil. I didn't move the stencil. Instead I added a bit of Nuvo Moonstone glimmer paste for a little sparkle. The sentiment...

TE Be a mermaid

Billede
Hello! Eeeeeek! The Taylored Expressions Be a mermaid stamps and dies just arrived! I was so excited to play with these! I also got a couple of new stencils, because i LOVE! stencils! So versatile and adds so much to a card. There are so many possibilities with these new godies, but I started out with these simple yet impactful cards. For the first card I used the TE Sweet scallop stencil. I placed the stencil over watercolor cardstock, flipped them over and taped them together on the back. I wanted to use Nuvo glimmer paste in Blue topaz, but I thought I'd try ink blending the background. I used Cracked pistacio, Mermaid lagoon and Wilted violet  Distess oxide inks and I wasn't too careful blending the colors, because I honestly didn't think it would show this much. But I'm so glad it does! I smeared over the glimmer paste and set it aside to dry.  On a piece of regular cardstock I ink blended 2 areas large enough to fit the mermaid...

Birthday cards for her

Billede
Hi there, I'm back after a family vacation with 2 birthday cards for her,  since I decided to use both negative and positive die cuts. First I used the largest My favorite things wonky stitched rectangle to cut out an alcohol ink panel I had already made. Then I used MFT Cheers and Birthday Girl word dies on the panel - I removed all the letters and was really careful to not loose the inside "bubbles" of the letters.     I carefully glued a piece of acetate to the back and glued on the loose bits as well. I hand cut a hole in a frame of white cardstock and placed the alcohol ink panel on top. Then I build up the shaker with crafting foam, used my antistatic bag and filled the tub with sequins, tiny confetti and glitter in colors of  silver, pink and purple. I then cut the MFT layered champagne glass twice. The glass itself is colored with Spun sugar Distress oxide ink and I colored on a couple of details with my Copic ...
