AAA Birthday challenge Game #11 Flowers
Hello everyone! Today we are kicking off the March challenge over at AAA Birthday challenge blog and the theme this month is Flowers!
I recently bought the Altenew Camellia Japonica Build-a-flower set. They are a series of layered flower stamps that include the die - YAY!, for lots of easy flower cards! Now, the setup can be a little time consuming, but it's so worth it! I cut a piece of cardstock in half so that it will fit inside my Misti. Then I cut the flower out 4 times, since there's 4 layers in the set. I used Neenah 80lb cardstock.
Placing the cardstock piece in my Misti and backing it with a piece of printer paper, allowed me to test if the first layer was centered on the die cut piece. After getting that just right I stamped onto one of the die cut pieces. I could then move the die cut flower to the next negative space and place the 2nd stamp perfectly and so forth. Once all 4 layers are placed in the Misti you are good to go and you'll be surprised how fast you can stamp your cut out flowers.
I recommend stamping one layer on all the flowers before moving on to the next. This allows the ink to dry in between layers, and you will get much crisper stamping and bolder colors instead of the ink blending.
Also, don't forget to prep your new stamps. Use a dry cloth or your hand to swipe across the stamp a couple of times before adding colored ink. Another trick is to first stamp with your embossing ink, lightly dap off, and then add your colored ink. It really makes a difference!

I did the same thing with the leaves in the set and then I worked on the layout. I first softly blended the light green ink through the Altenew Sketched lines stencil. With the medium green color I stamped a congrats sentiment from Hobbyboden.
For this card I used Altenew Warm & Cozy, Cherry Blossom, Shades of Purple and Green Fields coordinating ink sets.

The sentiment set Dobbelt op (double up) allows for a bold caps and/or a handlettered sentiment. I chose to use both. The handlettered one I stamped with embossing ink and heat embossed with Stampendous black embossing powder.
Since the card is custom made for a 90th birthday I decided to add numbers courtesy of Mama Elephant Number it. I again heat embossed in black and ink blended the 2 darker shades of green. I added Spectrum Noir clear sparkle marker and Glossy accents for a glittery, glossy, dimensional look.
I didn't want to take away from the bright colors by adding sparkle, so instead I added a few clear sequins.
As a final touch I cut off any flower of leaf hanging outside the card.
I hope you like my card and enjoyed the toturial.
Please leave a little love and also hop on over to the AAA Birthday blog where you'll find inspiration from not only 1 but 2 guest designers this month, and also the rest of the designers, including our new DT member Sandhya. Check them all out on the blog!
